Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival

The Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival, Inc. (GCEH) was started in Mobile in 1999. It is a non-profit 501c(3) corporation whose mission is to further the preservation and growth of jazz music in a professional, entertaining, family oriented venue and by encouraging youth musicians to play jazz by educating them in the history of the future.

At it's free concert (now held Saturdays in Bienville Square) GCEH has featured musical greats such as The Court Basie Orchestra, The Duke Ellington Orchestra and the James Brown Band, as well as upcoming acts like Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews.

GCEH has a number of other events as part of the festival including a "poetry slam", a jazz workshop for young area musicians, and its Sunday Night "jam session."
